On3’s Pete Nakos is reporting that the Gators are turning their attention to the 43-year-old.
And depending on Kiffin’s decision, he could be a top candidate at Ole Miss or LSU, too, sources told NACOS along with ON3’s Chris Low and Brett McMurphy.
Sumrall was seen as a top candidate at Auburn, but Nakos reports that “talks between the two have cooled in recent days” – though he is not ruling out a move to The Plains.

While Kentucky’s matchup at Louisville could technically shake things up, it’s obviously a big blow to members of Big Blue Nation, who wanted Mitch Barnhart to step up to Stoops and bring home the alumnus who is considered the hottest rising name in coaching right now. It’s even worse to know that the options are a quarter of the SEC, two being UK’s rivals in Florida and LSU in 2026, followed by the other two, Auburn and Ole Miss (as well as the Gators) in 2027.
Can Sumrall turn the beloved former Wildcat into a permanent SEC rival? We’re moving in that direction, friends.
