john lindstrom will be back general Hospital as Kevin Collins on Tuesday, December 2, one year after his last appearance.
For the actor who currently plays Joey Armstrong beyond the gatesIt was a matter of working on his schedule. “It’s been very difficult to find time,” explains Lindstrom, who shoots the new CBS soap in Atlanta.
Looking back, Lindstrom says the decision to sell Port Charles in exchange for Fairmont Crest was not a difficult one. “In all fairness to me, it came down to about one or two shows a month, so Kevin was pretty inactive for a long time,” he said. “I haven’t really seen any active stories from him since the show port charles, Or until Ryan (Chamberlain, Kevin’s twin) was around, it was kind of a random thing.”
Still, he knew how to get the job done btg it will have an impact gh Appearances “When I called Frank (Valentini), gh’s executive producer) to tell him what I’m going to do beyond the gates On Election Day 2024, they asked me, ‘Can you do both?'” Lindstrom explains. “I said, ‘Well, technically, yes, because I’m not under contract.’ The only condition is that they are 2,000 miles apart.’ So, there were just logistical problems along the way during the last year, where they would repeatedly reach out and ask if I was available for an episode or another episode in the middle of the week, and it’s impossible for me to do that from here because door “Takes up a lot of my time.”
still, gh Found a way to implement the visit. “To their credit, they came to me and said, ‘What if we put together a bunch of shows in a few days? Would it be worth your trip?'” he shares. “And the short answer is, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ Also, I think Ginny (Francis, Laura Collins) is getting tired of talking to a disembodied Kevin on the phone.”

The return to the soap he first joined in 1993 carried emotional weight for Lindström. “I love those guys,” he says. “I love them all. A lot of the great things in my life are a direct result of my collaboration with general HospitalComing back, the beautiful thing is that a lot of people don’t know you’re coming back, so they see you in the hallway, and they’re really happy to see you, It was like, ‘Oh my God, John, how long has it been?’ And then you walk on stage, and they can’t believe they’re actually looking at you, so it’s great, It’s like seeing old friends and having a great reunion all around,
Among those reunions, being reunited with Francis was a rare event. She added, “I love working with Ginny and she and Jonathan (Frakes, her husband) have become really close friends.” “I hadn’t seen him in over a year, so sitting in the dressing room with Ginny and hanging out and talking about life and how things are, I was really excited to do that. I also met Maurice (Bénard, Sonny Corinthos), and we worked together a little bit. I love Mo.”
Once back on set, getting back into character as Kevin proved seamless. “Like wearing a comfortable old suit,” reports Lindstrom. “It felt like I was going back to my hometown. I haven’t lived in my hometown since 1978, but I still get that feeling whenever I step off the plane at the Medford, Oregon terminal. It’s like, ‘Wow, I’m home. It feels really familiar.’ And that’s a good feeling. They say you can’t go home again. I don’t know whether it’s true or not.”
According to the story, Kevin will soon learn of Laura turning to Sonny for help following the death of Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard). “The Genie, who never bows, never walks into a scene, is so wonderful in this story,” he praises. “Kevin doesn’t like his relationship with Sonny, but he understands it. Being younger, he understands the value of human relationships.”
While Kevin’s return will be impressive, Lindstrom is also excited by his work btg“I’m absolutely loving it,” he declared, Michelle Val Jean (btg creator) has written really great characters for me in the past – she wrote all the great Ryan and Kevin characters back in the day – so when she came to me and said, ‘Oh, by the way, I sent your name out to the network, and they approved you,’ I was stunned. Not since I first played Ryan Chamberlain have I gotten to play a character so good, so layered, so interesting, so fun.”
And in a twist that amuses him, Joey looks like a gh Favorite. “I was with Michelle gh Emmy party, and we were talking to Maurice, and Moe says, ‘So what’s this character that you play?'” Lindstrom recalls. “And Michelle laughs and says, ‘That’s you.’ He’s Sonny from the DMV. And I said, ‘I think Joey has a much better sense of humor than Sonny Corinthos.'”
part of the thrill of being btgHe adds, working with a clean slate. “One of the reasons I love working on this show is because it’s new,” he says. “It’s because of the energy of everyone who wants to make it work and the amount of people who want to see it and enjoy it. It’s hard to get a show off the ground, but the energy and focus of trying to find the rhythm of something that doesn’t know its rhythm yet is hard to beat. And to have that spirit at this time in my career and my life has been such a gift to me.” Boy, I’ll tell you, Mick Jagger was right when he said, ‘Do what you love, it keeps you young.’ I get up every morning and get ready to go to work. I want to go to work. “I want to be a part of it and it’s really amazing.”
Apart from acting, Lindström is working on several creative projects. His next book, hollywood paybackWill be released on April 14, 2026, and he is the host of a new pilot, Bible on TrialBut he’ll be ready for another appearance in Port Charles. “It all depends on scheduling,” he says. “I would gh anytime. I just don’t know if we can work on this. I’m busier than ever, and I thought I’d be retired by now!”
