Below, we talked to Sho, Junkie, Ruki, and Rain about their first Texas show at Jingle Ball.

nice to meet you all. How are you feeling before the Dallas show at Jingle Ball, especially since you are the first Japanese artist to perform at the event?
Police Station: This is kind of our first real show that we’ve been invited to, so it’s very exciting for us. We’re excited to see our fans as well as those who don’t know us, and hopefully we’ll be able to make them our fans.

What can these fans expect from the performance in Dallas?
Junkie: This is our first time in Texas and it’s almost like a challenge. So what we’re going to do is do what we do best and show what “JO1-pop” is all about and go crazy on stage.

Since this is your first time in Texas, besides the concert, is there anything you want to see or experience during your trip to Texas?
Shoya: I want to eat BBQ and steak. I hear it’s great! I want to eat some wild food.

What was it like doing the first world tour with some dates in America? What was this experience like for JO1?
Stopped: Performing internationally is always a good time and it gives us kiai (fighting spirit). This was our first time to see fans in two locations in the US. We hope we do our best for the people waiting in Texas as well. were excited.

What did you learn from this experience? Each continent has its own unique crowds and atmosphere. Were there any characteristics of American fans that helped you grow as an artist?
Ren: He was very good at dancing.

Police Station: Yes, this is absolutely true.

Ren: His vibe was very good.

Police Station: Yes, they dance and bark a lot.

Junkie: Yes, they dance, they sing more than other places. And they are so crazy and bark like “bark bark bark”.

Police Station: They always yell things at our shows like “Bark Bark Bark.” They shouted our names. Even when we sang slow songs, they sang along in Japanese. He knows the Japanese lyrics to all our songs. It was amazing.

i love the new ep hand in my pocketWhat did you want to express with it and how does it show a new side of JO1?

Police Station: We want to show our hidden potential, power and energy to our fans. Everyone has potential and we want to empower them through our songs. They can do anything, so if they listen to our song, we want to give them the power to do anything for our fans and everyone.

How is this represented through musical styles? How did you decide on a style? This is a very versatile EP.
Police Station: This is a difficult question. We vote. We chose from many songs. We had a lot of songs to choose from, but as a group we decided which one would be our 10th single. Earlier the image of our music was clean. We wanted to change our style. This time we wanted something unique and more energetic. So we chose our new song, “Hands in My Pocket.”

What was the experience like recording it in the studio? Was it a very liberating experience?
Police Station: This is correct. The songs are crazy with different voices and heavy beats.

Are there any songs you are looking forward to performing at this upcoming show?
Police Station: Probably our new song “Hands in My Pocket”, and we want to show unique-

Junkie: crazy.

Police Station: Yes, crazy. We want to show a crazy state. The performance is nice and dope. We want to show our dope choreography.

There is talk about amazing choreography. I saw k popped Performing with Eve and Kesha. What was that experience like?
Police Station: It was an amazing experience.

Junkie: Yeah, it was sick. They were very energetic and learned our music seriously, which was really cool. It was a great opportunity. Watching them sing or seeing their skills in person and live helps us learn. It was an amazing experience. We learned a lot.

Police Station: It was very sick.

What did you learn from this? They both are legends.
police officer:Eve was such a superstar. She was amazing because her rap skills were next level. He is very energetic and creative. She is delicate but also really powerful. We felt his power, spirit and energy. It really influenced our new choreography while doing it with them.

You mentioned earlier that you wanted to create a new genre. How would you define “JO1-pop”?
Ren: “JO1-Pop” is about whether we enjoy doing it or not.

How important is it to make your mark in this field?
Junkie: This is very important. There are a lot of groups out there that do similar things to us, whether it’s a boys’ group or a girls’ group. There are many. But we want to do something different and we talk about it all the time.

It’s not just the company deciding which songs to make and other things like that. We are the ones who are always thinking about what will work for us or what is fun for us. This is what makes “JO1-pop,” “JO1-pop.”

Moving forward, is there anything fun and exciting you would like to explore next?
Police Station: We haven’t used Japanese instruments yet, so I would like to incorporate Japanese instruments and sounds. We want to try it.

Can you perhaps elaborate? What will this look like within “JO1-pop” and devices?
Police Station: We want to mix styles, incorporate Japanese instruments and our own voices. We’re still conceptualizing, but this is the direction we’re going in. We think this could be an interesting way to energize our fans. When it comes to style, we want to include everything that has to do with the instruments.

106.1 KISS FM’s Jingle Ball will take place Tuesday, December 2 at 7:30 pm at Dickies Arena, 1911 Montgomery St., Fort Worth. Tickets are available starting at $40.50 at Ticketmaster.com.
