Jayden Daniels remains out vs. Broncos with elbow injury

ASHBURN, Va. – Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out of Sunday’s game against Denver with a dislocated elbow suffered in Week 9, coach Dan Quinn said Friday.

But there remains a possibility for Daniels to return this season – possibly as early as Week 14 at Minnesota. And the good news for Washington is that receiver Terry McLaurin will play for only the second time after Week 3.

The Commanders (3-8) will host Denver (9-2) on Sunday. Washington has lost six consecutive games due to an offense missing key pieces – most notably McLaurin.

Daniels missed the last two games with an injury to his non-throwing hand. He practiced this week, but Quinn always considered him “impossible” to play. Daniels was listed as a limited participant in practice each day this week.

Quinn called this week a “great first step” for Daniels. He has not yet received approval for contact. Daniels has started five games this season but has been injured three times. He suffered a left knee sprain that caused him to miss two games and a right hamstring injury that caused him to miss one game.

Quinn also ruled out receiver Noah Brown, who remains on injured reserve due to a groin injury suffered in Week 2. Will Harris could be the starting safety for Sunday after missing the past nine games with a fractured fibula.

McLaurin returned from the Week 7 loss at Kansas City and caught three passes for 54 yards. But a diving grab re-aggravated his right quad injury. But he said earlier this week that this time he is feeling better, after going through several weeks of training and exercise he did not feel any problem.

“I feel like I don’t really have any stiffness in my injured area,” McLaurin said. “I feel like my acceleration is right there, just like the next gear I have, and I’m not really thinking about it at all. I definitely feel better this time and the ramp-up process has been really good.”
