Jason Kelce has revealed he’s fasting ahead of Thanksgiving.

Speaking on his latest episode New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, released on Wednesday, November 26, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center, 38, shared that he is fasting in agreement with a fellow former NFL star.

“Marcus Spears and I agreed to fast,” he said. “This is what happens when you retire. You do stupid things like this, and I agreed to do it. It’ll be over tomorrow morning. I’m not going to do it for Thanksgiving. I’m going to eat my face on Thanksgiving.”

The ESPN host explained that he’s been eating a lot of food lately, including on the Kelce family’s Disney World trip earlier this month, and he’s noticed that his weight is gaining.

He said, “I just feel bad about myself because I was at Disney World and ate a lot of weird egg rolls and a lot of other things that probably aren’t the best with Dole Whip and all that.” “Then I went to Wisconsin and stuffed prime rib and an ice cream drink in my face and wings, and the weight is gaining. So, yes, we’re going on a fast. I’m about thirty-six hours in. Just smell the food.”

Jason’s co-host and brother Travis Kelce asked him if his fast was healthy, to which he explained, “I think if you don’t eat for a long period of time, it becomes unhealthy. But, obviously, if you do it the right amount, it’s healthy. I don’t know.”

After this he said that his fast would continue for 48 hours. According to the Mayo Clinic, fasting means “not eating or drinking for a certain period of time.”

Travis, 36, later added, “I love that you guys are fasting right before Thanksgiving. I mean, you’re going to have a great Thanksgiving. You’re going to be starving.”

“By that time I could eat a whole turkey by myself,” Jason replied, before explaining how to prepare turkey at his house for the holidays.

“Kylie (Kells) puts the cranberry sauce,” he said of his 33-year-old wife. “I mean, her mom and she make turkey too. I’m feeling very uncomfortable on Thanksgiving because Kylie and her mom are making everything.”

The podcaster, who has been married to his wife since 2018, added, “And instead of watching the kids, I go next door and roast a turkey with Ed (her dad). So for an hour of the day, I’m completely idle and making an extra turkey that we don’t need.”

He said the turducken – a boneless chicken, stuffed inside a boneless duck, stuffed inside a boneless turkey – also will be on this year’s Thanksgiving menu.

Jason quipped, “Don’t know how to cook it.”

Meanwhile, Travis said he will celebrate Thanksgiving by playing football with the Kansas City Chiefs before boarding a plane back home to Kansas City.

“So unless we win and I get some turkey on the field, I’ll probably miss the Thanksgiving meal,” he said.

The Chiefs are set to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday at AT&T Stadium. In their last game, the team won 23–20 over the Indianapolis Colts, in which Travis’s fiancée Taylor Swift was seen cheering from the stands.
