Jase Richardson has breakout performance for Orlando Magic

For the first time in his NBA career, Jess Richardson was finally given some real rotation minutes in a game, and it paid off for the former Michigan State player in a big way. On Sunday, Richardson played 21 minutes in the Orlando Magic’s game against the Boston Celtics, and he was able to score 18 points with five rebounds and two assists on the night.

In a game the Magic lost by nine points, Richardson had a plus-minus of plus-eight on the night, the second-highest plus-minus on the team.

This was easily the biggest role Richardson has played in an actual NBA game since being drafted by the Magic, and his performance certainly put the league on notice. A quick scan on social media tells me Magic fans are already calling for him to become a permanent part of the rotation. Considering the Magic started the struggling Anthony Black at point guard tonight, there could be a role for Richardson to start at times this year when Jalen Suggs sits for injury management.
