Jamie Lee Curtis cried as she remembered Princess Diana and called President Trump’s behavior “despicable” in comparison.
appearing on British daytime shows this morningThe 67-year-old actress recalled writing a letter to the “people’s princess” before she died in a 1999 car crash. Describing Diana as an “extraordinary person” and leader, Curtis talked about the contrasting “hate” spread by his own country’s leaders.
“I told her I admired her and all the work she did to destigmatize people’s issues,” Curtis said, describing the letter she wrote to Princess Diana. fish called vandaIn which Curtis starred.
“Two days later, I got a letter back from him,” the Oscar-winning actress recalled, clearly emotional. He notes that the Princess told him that she understood why they could not meet. After that they never got a chance to talk.
While Curtis called Diana “an example” of what a leader should be, she went on to condemn today’s leaders, and focused her comments primarily on 79-year-old President Donald Trump.
“Look where I live, and look at the example of the leaders, look at the example of the people leading my country, and look at the hatred that they spew,” freaky Friday The actress said.
Curtis has been outspoken about her political stances and her opposition to the president’s views. Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, he posted a detailed caption on Instagram saying his victory signaled a “definite return to more restrictive, harsher times than some fear.”
Following the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Curtis faced criticism for calling his views “disgusting” to her and saying she hoped he would be “connected to his faith” in death. He later clarified that his comments were “mistranslated” and that he did not intend to talk about them in a “positive” manner.
Yet despite Curtis’s pessimism about the situation in the United States, she sounded optimistic when host Cat Deeley asked if she thought the “pendulum” would eventually swing the other way. Curtis said he believes this is already happening.

“I think him wagging his finger at a woman, calling her ‘piggy’ … is going to wake us up to an unacceptable behavior,” the actress said, referencing Trump snapping at Bloomberg White House correspondent Kathryn Lucy and telling her to “cool down, piggy” after she asked a follow-up question about sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Curtis called the incident “the straw that broke the camel’s back” and described it as an example of the President’s “misbehavior and despicable behavior”, which he believes “will be disastrous for him.”
The Daily Beast contacted the White House about Curtis’s comments but did not immediately receive a response.
Although Trump’s “piggy” comment drew sharp reaction, the White House and some Republicans have defended his behavior.
A White House official told The Daily Beast, “This reporter behaved inappropriately and unprofessionally toward his colleagues on the plane. If you’re going to give it, you’ve got to be able to take it.”
A few days after his insult to Lucy, the President attacked ABC White House correspondent Mary Bruce and told her to “learn how to be a reporter.”
