“I don’t care about reputation,” he said. “I mean, sure, would it be cool to be nominated for Best Director or something? Yeah, would I like to do that instead? But that’s not really my concern. Sometimes I have ideas that are more independent movies, but I love making the kind of movies that I make, and for lack of a better term I love making pop cinema.”
He continued. “If I can also achieve things that are emotionally relevant to people, or impact people in a deeper, more spiritual way, as a lot of people have said to me superman did, many people have told me this guardian 3 If it did, that’s fantastic. That’s what I would love to be able to do. But I also like making big films. There is an artistry in it, a creative flow. That’s the fun part of it.”

Oscar nominations are announced on January 22. It looks like Gunn, who’s clearly already living the dream anyway, won’t hold his breath.
