Ja Morant injury update for Memphis Grizzlies vs Sacramento Kings

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is dealing with a right calf strain during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 15.

The Grizzlies (8-12) said Morant will be reevaluated in two weeks on Nov. 17. That means he won’t play against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center on Nov. 30 (8 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).

Morant has averaged 17.9 points and 7.6 assists in 12 games this season.

Morant’s absence is one of many that have depleted the Grizzlies’ point guard depth. Scottie Pippen Jr. (toe), Ty Jerome (calf) and Javon Smalls (toe) are out with injuries.

Vince Williams Jr. and Cam Spencer have taken on more primary playmaking roles without the point guard. The Grizzlies signed Kobe Bufkin to a 10-day contract on November 24 to add guard depth.

Williams has had multiple games of 15 or more assists since taking over as point guard following Morant’s injury. He is averaging 9.6 points and 8.7 assists in seven starts.

Memphis is 4-8 when Morant plays this season. The Grizzlies are 4-4 without Morant.
