I’ve never used a trackball, but Keychron’s Nape Pro looks like the perfect one

Keychron announced a new mechanical keyboard with marathon battery life at CES, but it’s the trackball that stole the headlines. The Nap Pro is Keychron’s first trackball, and its slim frame means it can work in a number of ways on your desk. You can place it on the right or left side of the keyboard like a traditional trackball, or you can place it on the front and use it without taking your hands off the keys.

This position makes it look like a giant Lenovo TrackPoint, commonly found on ThinkPad laptops but sometimes used on dedicated keyboards. And it should allow you to move your cursor, turn the Nap Pro’s rotary dial, or press one of its six fully-programmable buttons—all without changing the position of your hand.

Keychron co-founder Paul Tan said The Verge The Nap Pro is coming to Japan soon via crowdfunding, but it should be brought to the US in the spring for $60 to $100, depending on the tariff.

I’m waiting for it to get here. I’ll keep one under or on the side of my keyboard even when using a traditional mouse. The options are fun.
