Mehdi Hassan debates Getachew Reda over his alliance with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and justice for the war in Tigray.
Today, hopes for lasting peace and justice are gone. Relations between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government and the TPLF have once again soured, with many fearing renewed hostilities.
And relations with neighboring Eritrea, which fought against the TPLF alongside Ethiopia, have deteriorated, bringing the country to the brink of war.
Getachew Reda was a prominent political figure in Tigray as TPLF spokesman and interim president of Tigray during the civil war.
After publicly falling out, he claimed there was deep corruption among the TPLF leadership and he joined his one-time arch enemy Abiy.
Mehdi goes head-to-head with Getachew Reda, an adviser to the Ethiopian Prime Minister, on his new alliance with Hassan Abiy, and asks if Ethiopia and Eritrea are heading towards war.
