iOS 27 adds long-desired iPhone volume control feature

According to Android Authority, Apple is finally giving iPhone users the ability to independently adjust their ringtone, alarm, and alert volumes — a feature Android has been offering for years.

For users with access to the iOS 27 developer beta, the controls are in place Settings > Sound & HapticsWhere users can also toggle “Match ringtone volume” to unlock separate sliders for alarms and system alerts. Android Authority notes that the alarm slider will not affect the wake-up alarm, which is managed separately through Bedtime settings. Users who prefer a single unified slider can keep the toggle on.

This addition is a small but meaningful improvement in the quality of life that iPhone users have wanted for years, and one that arrives quietly. Apple made no mention of it during Monday’s WWDC 26 keynote, which featured the unveiling of Siri AI, a sweeping Apple Intelligence update to core apps, and a new Photo AI editing suite.

iOS 27 is currently available for developers to test, with a public beta expected next month. The full release is scheduled for this fall and will be compatible with devices like the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (second generation), although some AI features will be limited to the new phones.
