iam8bit is suing Skybound Game Studios alleging fraud and theft of designs

iam8bit is a video game creator as well as a business operation selling vinyl soundtracks and other geek gear. The company partnered with Skybound Game Studios in April 2021. Since then, iam8bit alleges that Skybound operated a multi-year accounting scheme and failed to provide accurate financial reports for the partnership each month. “Skybound failed to provide monthly reports as agreed,” the Los Angeles Superior Court complaint states. “It also financed its expenses with millions of dollars in counterfeit line items.” iam8bit claims that Skybound has yet to provide an explanation about the line items, not even to the third-party auditor it appointed. The company is alleging losses of more than $4 million related to accounting issues.
