I asked Google Gemini a very basic developer question. The answer was unremarkable, except in the conclusion it mentioned that it knew I had previously used a device called Alembic:

I now know about the “Personal Reference” feature – it’s awesome. But why has Mithun been instructed not to disclose its existence? And why does it decide to lie to cover up violations of its privacy policies? I’m beginning to believe that “the pursuit of maximum truth” may actually be the true north star for AI.
