i am playing Hades II Constantly for the past few weeks, and I’ve lost count of how many times it’s surprised me. Every few hours, there’s a new twist, turn, or revelation that makes me sit back in my seat and marvel at just how amazing this game really is. And when I first thought Hades It was excellent, it is something beyond that.
Hades II is the sequel to Supergiant Games’ 2020 hit, HadesAs before, this is a roguelike game – so basically, a run-based game where failure and success alike reset you to start over, while certain things like the skills and weapons you’ve acquired remain persistent as you progress the cycle of its mythological narrative, Originally released in Early Access in late 2024, it took almost a year for a full release and to come to consoles, so I’m playing it on the Nintendo Switch 2 right now,
When I booted the game up for the first time, I thought it would be the same. Struggling to get through each level, dying over and over again, but always getting a little stronger, and moving the story forward a little. But this time there were so many new additions to it that I started feeling overwhelmed with joy. New powers, new ways to unlock or retain powers. Choose a partner. Pick up a weapon. Unlock secrets upon secrets. Who is that person I can’t communicate with yet? Where does that door go? Will I ever be able to defeat this strange shell woman and her band?

With time, answers to all those questions came. And, over time, you realize that Hades II Basically double the size of the first game HadesAs the princess of the underworld Melinoe you not only have to fight evil in the underworld to kill your enemy, but you also have to fight evil on earth, However, when you make this discovery, you realize that just living on Earth is what kills you, So you have to die, wait and improve, Die, wait, and improve,
After about 30 deaths I decided to cheat. I’ve turned on “God Mode”, which means that every time you die, you become slightly less susceptible to damage. It’s not the most respectful way to play, but my character is battling gods, so I thought, why not embrace those powers too? God mode helped.
Blessings also help. one of the main elements of both Hades And Hades II That is, during your journey, you receive random powers called boons each night from different members of the Greek pantheon. And, with each of their boons, you get three random choices. each run Hades II It depends on which gods you meet and which boon you choose from them. And, after 30 or 40 nights, I had my favorites that I knew would help me get to where I needed to be. Was also my least favorite. Which I avoided because I did not understand the point. This was my biggest mistake.

The deity I mainly avoided was Selene, the moon goddess, because her powers didn’t seem that helpful. Then, in a random race, I was forced to pick them up, and I realized what an idiot I was. Selene’s powers weren’t just good; he was unbelievably Well, and arguably the most powerful in the game. I was not using them properly. When you use them correctly, they become extremely powerful and basically turn you into a superhero. So, from there, I prioritized Selene’s powers every night and eventually defeated the big villain, Chronos.
in only Hades II, much like Hades IOne win is not enough. In fact, that first win itself opens up and changes the entire story. So, after killing Chronos, you have to kill Chronos again and again. Then, after doing this about eight times, you have to do the same on the surface while climbing Mount Olympus. Defeat the bad guys again and again and again and again.
It was my 70th run when I finally got the “ending” of the game and it shook me beyond words. The way it so beautifully weaves and transforms the themes of family and betrayal that you have been wrapped up in for all these hours was absolutely amazing. Additionally, it was bolstered by its incredible speed.

one of the most unfathomable things about Hades II This is how information and revelations are delivered exactly at the right time when you need them. So while you may not be able to access a certain spell or item at the beginning, it becomes available when the game senses you are ready. The same applies for different pieces of information, new characters, and more. Basically, as you get closer to the end, things change. Your last few runs are a little different from the last ones. Which, by that point, is mind-boggling. Another check on my list of “wow” moments. Then, of course, there’s that ending. Powerful, poignant, beautiful and surprising. Only, as Melino said right after, “We’re not finished yet.”
Because you are not finished. Never, if you don’t want to be. After beating the game’s main story, there are still a lot of things left to unlock. Of course, there are some bigger and more difficult challenges, but the basic story stuff is still on the table. For example, I haven’t awakened Hypnos yet, despite him being there and accessible since the beginning of the game. Fates, who was captured by Kronos, is still missing. And to do any of these things, I will have to keep fighting again and again, on earth and in the underworld. Which I will do.
I’m mostly a casual gamer. I don’t like playing with others online, and when I find a game, I usually put everything I have into it, or nothing. But when I fall in love with someone, I fall in deep and that’s what happened Hades II. i love her so much Hades II That I’m already looking for figures, merch, anything I can find to remember this incredible experience long after Melino is finally put back on the shelf. It’s a fantastic, exhilarating game that impressed me and kept me coming back again and again. I like it very, very much.
Hades II Currently available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and macOS.
