Google has introduced a new feature to its Photos app that can turn your images into memes. The feature, called Me Meme, uses Google Gemini to take meme templates and recreate them with a photo you use within the app. It is still in its experimental phase and will be available only in the English language for users in the US. Also, it looks like it’s only being released for Android users at the moment, and Google warns that the generated images may sometimes not match the original photo. If you get access to this feature soon, check out the instructions below on how to use it.
-
Open your Photos app. Go to the Create tab at the bottom and find the Me Meme option. If it is not visible despite being an Android user in the US, you will have to wait for it as it continues to roll out. Google told techcrunch That it will reach iOS users in the coming weeks.
-
You will see onscreen instructions the first time you use it. The next time you use the feature, you’ll go straight to the meme creation process.
-
You can browse and choose from one of the preset templates provided by Google, but you can also upload a meme or any other image as a template.
-
Then you have to upload a photo that you want to put in the meme. Google recommends using a selfie or photo in which your face is clearly visible.
-
After tapping on Generate, if you are satisfied with the result you can save the meme or directly share it online on social media platforms. You can also tap Regenerate to see different outputs.
Android Authority The feature was spotted in October 2025 and was able to be tried out ahead of its limited release. You can see an example of Me Mem’s output below.
