How much snow will we get in Mass.? – NBC Boston

Enjoy the melt out there today as another mix of rain, snow and ice is headed our way.

While there will be a weekend break in the spring feeling, next week will be very much spring, with high temperatures in the 60s. The normal temperature this time of year is 42 degrees, so it’s a good idea to avoid the cold and below normal temperatures for most of February.

Temperatures are falling rapidly again tonight, setting the stage for our next system, which arrives Thursday afternoon into early Friday, bringing another messy wintry mix.

Winter weather advisories have already been issued for parts of New England from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon.

Rain and freezing rain began to fall across much of southern New England Thursday afternoon. Cold air at the surface becomes more abundant in the evening, creating more areas of freezing rain and sleet, primarily along and north of the Mass Pike. Accumulation of snow and ice here will make travel slippery during Friday morning commute.

Following this system, attention turns to the warming trend. Temperatures will begin to climb later this week and early next week temperatures may rise well above normal, with highs reaching the 50s and even 60s.
