Katherine LaNasa knows there are more eyes on her performance in Season 2 the pit After her Emmy win.
The 58-year-old actress told PEOPLE at the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House Annual Brunch in Los Angeles that after nabbing the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in September, she’s feeling some pressure as the medical procedural drama enters its second season.
“I think in Season 1, I was flashed in the back,” LaNasa, who plays nurse Dana Evans, told PEOPLE on Sunday, October 26. “And I didn’t know I was, but it happened. And now I’m more out there.”
She adds, “So it’s like, can I shine in front, can I lead from the front? We’ll have to see.”
LaNasa explains that “any fear that comes with it” is “really just working out” after a win.
“To do the research, to put in the work, to know your lines, to study, to go to a rape treatment center and to do background work if you have a rape story,” she says.

Following her nomination, LaNasa told People that she felt as if she had “already won.” This recognition also marked the first Emmy nomination of his career.
LaNasa said, “It’s crazy. You live on the sidelines for so long of your career, you don’t really expect to be one of the nominees.” “It’s really gratifying to have that happen. I feel like I got a ticket to ride and I’m happy with that.”
The series, which follows medical professionals during a difficult transition, also won the award for Outstanding Drama Series during the show’s run. During his speech, LaNasa thanked his family, the nurses who “inspired” him while making the show, and his co-star, the “incomparable Noah Wyle.”
“Oh my God, I feel so proud and honored to receive this award from the Academy,” she said in her speech. “I’ve wanted to work for (producer) John Wells my whole career and he elevates everything.”
