HOUSTON – Houston’s 76th annual HEB Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, bringing one of the nation’s oldest Thanksgiving traditions back to the city’s streets with elaborate floats and displays for hundreds of thousands of spectators.

According to a notice from the Mayor’s Special Events Office, there will be extensive road closures for the parade. Closings are subject to change.

Major thoroughfares, including Walker, McKinney, Louisiana, Smith, Brazos, Lamar and Milam streets, will be affected at various times throughout the week for parade staging and rehearsals.

The parade route itself will run from Smith Street between Lamar and Walker, continuing through downtown at Walker, Milam, Pease, Louisiana, Clay and ending at Smith and Dallas.

On the day of the parade, many roads will be closed as early as 6 am, with the parade starting at 9 am and ending at 11 am. The notice emphasizes that all roads will reopen by 3 pm on Thursday, unless otherwise mentioned.
