Houston Rockets’ Of USA Star Josh Okogie Restates Love For D’Tigers

Josh Okogie, a regular player for the USA Houston Rockets team, has reiterated his love for the Nigerian basketball national team, D’Tigers, Sports247 reports.

Although he admitted that he initially shifted his allegiance to the United States, the former collegiate star revealed that he has always loved being in camp with his national team teammates.

“It’s a big honor to represent my country, Nigeria. I was excited when three months ago… in August… we had our training camp at home and we played two friendlies against Guinea,” Okogie said.

“That was my first time playing basketball in Nigeria. I loved playing in front of fans. The whole atmosphere made it the most heartfelt game I’ve ever played in my life.”

He concluded by reiterating that any serious player should be proud to wear the country’s jersey at any time, as he always feels.

Okogie said, “It’s a big honor for me to be able to represent my country and play in front of them. The fact that I was born there makes it really cool for me to go back there to play for the country.”

Sports247 reports that Okogie will get another chance to prove his love for Nigeria when he plays with the D’Tigers this Thursday against hosts Tunisia in the first leg of the African qualifiers for the next FIBA ​​Men’s Basketball World Cup.
