Hoto’s slick leaf blower looks ready to blast away leaves or aliens

Hotto has a new cordless leaf blower that continues the company’s trend of redesigning power tools so they look more at home in an Apple Store — or in a sci-fi movie — than at Home Depot. It’s available now at Hotto’s online store for $239.99 or at Amazon, where it’s discounted from $249.99 to $189.99.

Like Hotto’s previous offerings, including the screen-equipped PixelDrive electric screwdriver, the leaf blower features a minimalist design with a 4,000mAh battery at the end of a thin handle that helps balance the blower.

There are three speed settings ranging from 480 to 720 cubic feet per minute (CFM), and at maximum power, the leaf blower can produce a blast of up to 120 mph, theoretically ensuring that even the wettest pile of leaves will blow into your neighbor’s yard. But don’t expect to spend the entire day cleaning up the mess with all your might. Battery life is rated at up to 30 minutes at 480CFM, and drops to just four minutes at 720CFM.

For larger dirt, the blower has an adjustable siphon tube that slides back and forth to reduce air speed while increasing air volume. Hotto says the whole thing weighs just 2.93 pounds, but there’s no battery attached, so you can expect to pick up at least an extra pound of weight when using it.

Instead of a dedicated charger, the blower’s battery can be recharged with a standard USB-C cable. If you connect it with a 100W adapter, you only have to wait 40 minutes for the battery to return to 80 percent capacity.
