Hong Kong fire: At least four killed as major fire engulfs apartment blocks

Dramatic pictures show three towers engulfed in smoke and flames after a fire broke out at a residential property in Hong Kong.

Where has this happened?

The fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong’s northern Tai Po district on Wednesday. According to Reuters, it is a 2,000-unit residential complex made up of eight blocks.

Was anyone injured or killed?

The Hong Kong government says seven people were taken to two hospitals. It said that four of these people have died, two are in critical condition and one person is in stable condition.

Reuters journalists and firefighters were among those injured while trying to suppress the flames.

How did it start?

While we do not yet have detailed information on how the fire broke out, it is believed to have spread from bamboo scaffolding outside the buildings.
