‘He’s not from this planet’

Pickens has become a surefire playmaker for Prescott. When a big game is to be played, the former Steeler is routinely on the other end. In contrast, Lamb caught four of 11 targets for 75 yards on Sunday, including a drop in the end zone.

With Pickens, the cowboys aren’t living or dying because of Lamb’s ups and downs.

“We’re lucky to have a guy like that, and we’ve got to make sure we can keep him here. He’s a great player and he’s turning into a leader, and he’s special.” Prescott said of Pickens.

With Pickens headed toward free agency, there is increasing discussion about how the Cowboys will hold on to the wideout after inking him to a big contract extension. At the very least, Dallas could use the franchise tag to keep him through at least 2026, who is projected to be worth more than $28 million.

Owner Jerry Jones said he wanted Pickens back next season.

“Sure, absolutely,” Jones said. “We’re proud of him, and I don’t even want to play games with him. We’d love to have him on the team. By the way, I’d love to have (CeeDee Lamb) on the team. And I know what we’re asking here, but we’re sure we’ll love the way the combination is really allowing us to execute offensively.”

Sunday’s historic comeback kept the postseason alive for Dallas. With an attack that can snatch points and an improved defense, there is a chance Jones’ club can make the playoffs. From there, it’s anyone’s game.
