Here’s Every Country Directly Impacted by the War on Iran

On 28th February, The United States and Israeli forces launched a series of attacks on Iran, causing turmoil in the Middle East.

Defense Department Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a recent press conference that the operation could last up to eight weeks. President Donald Trump himself said at a press conference on March 2 that the administration anticipated the operation would last four or five weeks, but “has the potential to last much longer than that.”

Iran has retaliated this week, attacking Israel, regional US embassies and military bases, and other sites in the Middle East. Iran has carried out hundreds of drone and ballistic missile attacks on neighboring countries since the operation began. While many of these have been stopped, there have been casualties in the area and many buildings have been damaged, including luxury hotels in Dubai, US military bases and embassies, and international airports and sea ports.

Israel has also started bombing Lebanon after the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah attacked the country.

The Trump administration has provided multiple, and sometimes seemingly contradictory, justifications for military action, ranging from a potential “nuclear threat” to unverified claims that Iran attempted to interfere in the 2020 and 2024 U.S. presidential elections. As of March 5, Congress, which has the sole power to declare war in the US, has not done so.

The attacks have already disrupted supply chains, creating uncertainty for the oil and gas and fertilizer industries as key infrastructure has been targeted or shut down out of caution. Shipping traffic on the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route, has halted.

As the conflict escalates and spreads, WIRED is tracking which countries are affected and how. This article was last updated on March 5.
