TERRE HAITE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Terre Haute native has become a Jeopardy Super Champion after winning 14 games and nearly $375,000. Who is Harrison Whittaker?
Whittaker had been performing on Jeopardy, but her run ended on Tuesday night after a loss during Final Jeopardy. Whittaker had a close race with Libby Jones, who got the final Jeopardy question correct while Whittaker did not. While playing on Jeopardy, Whittaker knew the game would take the perfect combination of skill and luck.

“I knew that if I got it right I basically had to bet enough to guarantee a win,” Whittaker said. “When that clue came up and I didn’t know the answer right away for sure. It was obviously a tough feeling. But again, it’s exactly the kind of thing that you know you’re getting into when you’re in danger, you know, no game is guaranteed. No question is guaranteed. You just have to be a combination of prepared and lucky.”
Whittaker really appreciated hearing and seeing all the support from her hometown as her journey continued into Jeopardy, but she wanted to make sure everyone at home was able to ride the emotional roller coaster like they did while competing on the show.
Local Jeopardy star is proud of his roots
“My whole run started and ended before my first episode even aired,” Whittaker said. “For me it was all over before it even started for anyone else, which is ridiculous. I find it very easy to keep it a secret, because I think it’s unfair for someone else to know what’s going to happen when I myself didn’t. When I first went out there, I had no idea I was going to win a single game, let alone win fourteen games, and so I want everyone to go through the same torturous process that I did.”
Whittaker’s time in danger may be over for now, but it’s not over yet. Whittaker will be in the show’s Tournament of Champions. Filming for this will begin around this time next year.
