Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced in a social media post Monday that she has separated from her husband David James, calling the decision unexpected but the best choice.
The split comes more than a year after she first announced her engagement and marriage to James, an attorney at Austin-based law firm, Edwards Law.
Their engagement was later featured in a Vogue Magazine wedding article.
“Our time together has certainly been full of challenges, but we have worked hard and used our resources to overcome them and strengthen our relationship,” Hidalgo wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. “This year, life took a turn that forced us to see things differently. So, very unexpectedly, on this day of our anniversary, David and I have separated.”
He said that this decision has been taken with confidence, but not lightly.
He wrote, “It is not what we feel confidently, however painfully, to be best.” “As we have done for 10+ years, we love, respect and admire each other deeply and remain in close touch.”
