Half-Life 3 is rumored to be a Steam Machine launch title and could arrive in spring 2026

Half-Life fans are nothing if not patient. For the die-hard fans out there, the latest test of patience is coming Insider Gaming Weekly‘s podcast, which claimed that the third installment of the Half-Life franchise is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2026 to coincide with the launch of the Steam Machine.

“The window that was specifically told to me was Spring 2026 for Half-Life 3, for the Steam Machine, for the Frame, for the controller,” said Mike Straw, one of the hosts. Insider Gaming Weekly Podcast and Senior Editor Insider GamingSaid. “At the end of the day, the game is real.”

Straw said that all previous dates for announcing the next Half-Life game have passed, but his sources are “still adamant that this is a game that will be a launch title with the Steam Machine.” However, this could be an issue tied to Valve’s latest hardware releases as Straw noted that the explosive surge in RAM pricing is causing considerable concern leading up to the Steam Machine pricing announcement.

“The concern, though, is that they haven’t made any decisions on pricing, which is kind of precluding the announcement of anything else,” Straw said. “There’s no doubt in my mind that Valve is still trying to make a decision because of what’s going on on the component side.”

While hopeful fans were hoping for some teasers during The Game Awards, Valve hasn’t said anything official. However, there is still a lot of hope, especially given Valve’s update half life 2 for its 20th anniversary, and previous rumors had hinted at a game that is still in development but playable from start to finish.
