Google must be confident in the capabilities of this model as it will be the only one available going forward. From now on, the Nano Banana 2 will replace both the standard and Pro variants of the Nano Banana in Gemini apps, Search, AI Studio, Vertex AI, and Flow.
On the Gemini app and website, the Nano Banana 2 will be the image generator for Fast, Thingy, and Pro settings. It’s possible there will eventually be a Nano Banana 2 Pro—Google releases elements of new model families one at a time. For now, it’s all “flash” image.
