Director Gore Verbinski has built up an impressive filmography over the years ring and the first three installments of Pirates of the Caribbean 2011 franchise of Oscar-nominated animated Westerns RangoGranted, he’s had his share of failures (*cough*) lone ranger *cough*), but if this trailer is any indication, Verbinski has another winner on his hands with this absurdist sci-fi dark comedy Good luck, enjoy, don’t die,
Sam Rockwell plays the otherwise unnamed “Man from the Future”, who looks like a homeless man in a Los Angeles diner but claims to be a time traveler from a post-apocalyptic future. He has come there to recruit the locals in his war against the evil AI, though the patrons of the eatery are clearly suspicious of his sanity. (“I come from a nightmare apocalypse,” he reassures the crowd about his hideous appearance. “This is the height of fashion!”) Somehow, he convinces a handful of Angelenos to join his crusade, and judging by the rest of the footage, all kinds of chaos ensues.
In addition to the notably watchable Rockwell, the cast includes Haley Lu Richardson as Ingrid, Michael Pena as Mark, Zazie Beetz as Janet, and Juno Temple as Susan. Dino Fetscher, Anna Acton, Asim Choudhary, Daniel Barnett and Dominic Maher also appear in as-yet undisclosed roles. Matthew Robinson (Lies, Love and the Invention of Monsters) wrote the script. It is Verbinski’s first indie film, and Tom Ortenberg, CEO of distributor Briarcliff Entertainment, praised it as “highly original, wildly entertaining, and unlike anything audiences have seen before.” Paint us with curiosity.
good luck, don’t die, enjoy Will be released in theaters on February 13, 2026.
