
Today the film studio officially unveiled the statue, which will welcome and bid farewell to international travelers through Haneda’s Terminal 3, which towers above its main campus. Based on the classic design of the original Godzilla from 1954, this statue is equal parts intimidating in its scope and surprisingly goofy in its retro charm, looking exactly like a vintage monster suit with glowing, mismatched eyes, and not an idealized, self-serious vision of the legendary kaiju.
As well as the larger Godzilla, the statue’s opening will also be accompanied by smaller exhibits at Terminal 3, including an exclusive mini-statue of Godzilla as he appears in Takashi Yamazaki’s smash-hit. godzilla minus oneas well as Godzilla: The Great Monster Advanced Picture ScrollA massive mural marking the last 70 years of Godzilla’s cinematic history as well as all the kaiju-maniacal enemies he has created.
