carry
Matthew Lillard reveals Mike Flanagan carry The TV series updates the story by applying more modern bullying techniques on poor Carrie White.
We finished six months of shooting in Vancouver just before Christmas. it was awesome. so much fun. If you don’t know, there was a Carrey movie. Brian De Palma shot it with Sissy Spacek. There’s this iconic image of her covered in blood at the prom. That’s all great. This is a very specific part of the book that was used to make that movie. That book is very dense and has rich illustrations of things that were not in the De Palma film.
so, mike [Flanagan] Went back, took out other elements from the book, then took real-life examples of what’s happening with bullying in America and applied them to this new adaptation. He’s literally snatching things from the headlines and applying them to modern times so people can understand what Carrie is going through. After this he actually looked at it from three perspectives. It is up to the parents how they deal with it. It’s the high school faculty, where I play the principal role, and then there are the kids.
And I think what sets it apart is that Mike is an incredible storyteller. He’s very good, and I think he’s especially good at Stephen King. His pace, the way he works and the sincerity with which he is building characters is great. It has an incredible cast of young actors. Summer Howell plays Carrie and she is incredible. Samantha Sloyan plays the mother, an iconic role that is a star-making turn for her.
I am very excited. For me, living in Mike Flanagan’s world is one of the best things that has ever happened to my career. Just by being among those people they become friends. And it’s been an incredible experience.
