Glen Kyne joins New Zealand Film Commission board of directors

The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) has appointed Glenn Caine, former senior vice president and head of networks at Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ, to its board of directors.

Kaine brings extensive knowledge of the media sector, following the company’s acquisition of MediaWorks TV, she was made joint lead for Discovery ANZ in Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands with Rebecca Kent in late 2020, where she spent over six years.

The following year, after Kent was appointed to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Transformation, he assumed sole leadership of the trans-Tasman business. He then moved to the role of senior vice president and head of networks following WarnerMedia’s merger with Discovery in June 2022. He left the business in July last year.

In a statement, the NZFC said Kaine’s expertise would be a “huge asset” as the commission continues to champion local film and establish New Zealand as a leading destination for international productions.

“We are excited to work with Glenn and leverage his strategic insight, business expertise and innovative approach to connect audiences with world-class content,” the statement said.

In addition to welcoming Kaine, the NZFC has bid farewell to long-time member David Wright, while retaining Jan Mayers for an additional three-year term.

Along with Meyers and Kaine, the board includes Graeme Mason (Chair), Nagila Dixon, Amy McCammon, John Kroll and Sharon Menzies.
