GK Barry makes Tottenham joke during Women’s League Cup draw

Sources at some of the clubs involved believe that the intention to introduce a younger audience through the choice of platform and personalities makes sense.

However, there is unhappiness about the balance between this and conducting a professional draw.

While holding out a ball bearing the name Tottenham, Barrie asked, “What do we think of Tottenham?”, referring to the anti-Spurs chant sometimes sung by Arsenal fans.

The referee present at the draw said that the ball he had drawn at the second attempt – having revealed the home team in the first semi-final – was the one he had dropped.

Had it not been the same number, WSL Football said the draw would have been restarted.

WSL Football told BBC Sport that because the draw contained advertisements and was broadcast as TikTok Live, it is not available to watch on its YouTube channel.

The quarter-finals will be played between 19-21 December and the semi-finals between 21-22 January 2026.

The YouTube stream of the Women’s FA Cup third round draw on Monday was broadcast without sound due to technical problems.

Presenters and interviews from Oxford United, where the draw took place, could not be heard on the YouTube feed, although the television broadcast on TNT Sports did not suffer the same problems.
