FileZilla Pro “Perpetual License” – A warning to all users
This is a clear warning to anyone who has ever purchased, or is thinking about purchasing, FileZilla Pro.
I bought FileZilla Pro for under a perpetual license – One-time payment, lifetime right to use the version I purchased. After reinstalling my operating system, I just needed to reinstall the software I had already paid for.
- support accepted me still have legal rights To use the older version of FileZilla Pro that I originally purchased.
- Then they told me that they Refuse to provide installer For that version.
- His excuse: “For security reasons we do not make older versions available.”
If a customer cannot download the installer, there is a “perpetual license” deadIt doesn’t matter what rights they concede on paper – they’re blocking any practical way to use the software unless you pay again under their new subscription model,
There is no way to reinstall. There is no way to access the product you purchased. As soon as you reinstall your OS or lose the installer, your “perpetual license” effectively becomes useless.
What this means for users:
FileZilla is fully aware that the customer legally owns those older versions. They openly admit it. And then they somehow abort the installer, leaving users with no real option but to pay again.
If you’re considering FileZilla Pro, understand exactly what you’re getting into: you may pay for a perpetual license, and later be denied any way to reinstall the product you legally own.
Although “Zilla” appears in the name, the FileZilla project is No Not affiliated with Mozilla in any way. similarity in naming not a coincidenceTheir intention is to deceive users into thinking that the project belongs to Mozilla so that they can Sell permanent licenses that don’t persist during an OS reinstall,
