“For the New York Football Giants, I see Davis Webb is in the conversation,” Winston told host Kay Adams. “But you know what, we’ve got Jackson Dart and seeing how Ole Miss did in the College Football Playoff this year, what if we got Charlie Weise Jr. in the mix? I’m looking for my young quarterback, man. I want him to be around guys he’s familiar with.”
Weis Jr. coached Dart during his standout college career at Ole Miss, where Dart led the nation in total offense and passing efficiency.
Winston, who has served as a veteran presence and occasional starter for the Giants, prioritizes familiarity and chemistry to accelerate Dart’s development after a promising rookie season that included franchise records and strong performances.
The Giants, under head coach John Harbaugh, had targeted Monken to reunite their successful Ravens partnership, but Harbaugh reportedly tried unsuccessfully to pry him from his job with the Browns. This narrowed down the number of candidates, with names like Davis Webb (who has opted to remain with the Denver Broncos as their OC), Jim Bob Cooter, and others being discussed.
Weis Jr. has insisted that he will remain at LSU, although some still believe he would seriously consider an offer from the Giants to reunite with Darts – especially given his father’s previous relationship with the organization.
