George Clooney plays a movie star in new movie jay kelly
While filming its final scene, Clooney was shown footage from his own previous projects, which he says he was not told about in advance.
“I was really surprised by it — and a little bit upset, too,” the actor-filmmaker quipped to People.
George Clooney enjoyed a moment of nostalgia while watching his new movie.
In jay kelly (in theaters and on Netflix Dec. 5), the Oscar winner, 64, plays a famous movie star who is no different from himself. Speaking to People at the premiere of Noah Baumbach’s film in Los Angeles on November 11, it’s clear that some of the parallels with his real life were less than intuitive.

Baumbach used actual footage from several of the actor’s previous screen projects, with Clooney saying he “had no idea they were going to do that.”

“When they first shot it, it was the first time they showed it to me,” Clooney explains. “This is the first take of the film.”

When he was seen holding Sandler’s hand, Clooney confirmed it was barely acting. “I was really surprised by it – and a little bit upset,” he admits.

“It’s tough,” he quips. “You have to really steel yourself to look 40 years old on screen. It’s not so easy with a bad mullet. It’s not very good.”
