About 80 percent of the power grid in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region was disrupted after a drone attack on the Khor Mor gasfield.

According to media reports, a drone attack on Iraq’s Khor Mor gasfield forced the facility to suspend operations, cutting power to much of the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.

The Reuters news agency reported that the attack was carried out at around 11:30 pm local time (20:30 GMT) on Wednesday night. The agency said it impacted several gas storage tanks, resulting in an explosion and a major fire, injuring several workers.

The Khor Mor gasfield is operated by UAE company Dana Gas and is located between the cities of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq.
