The Memphis Grizzlies are in bad shape after being defeated by the San Antonio Spurs last time out. The Griz are 5-1 after a 111-101 loss to the Spurs. San Antonio has also been playing some good basketball since then. Two hot teams will meet once again in San Antonio, as the Spurs go home for just one game before going back on the road.
The Grizzlies’ winning streak has been driven by its big men. Zach Ade, Santi Aldama and Jaren Jackson Jr. are playing great basketball. Meanwhile, the Spurs are getting it done with great play from their guards and wings. De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell have been manning the net while Stephen Cassel and Victor Wembanyama have missed time. Memphis will also be shorthanded, as Ja Morant, Ty Jerome and Scottie Pippen Jr. are out.
The Spurs are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, in which they were penalized for missing threes and allowing the Wolves to get too many open shots. They will need to get hot again and stop the Grizzlies from hitting on the interior if they want to avoid their second straight loss.

AD has been crushing teams lately. He is putting up Wembley numbers at the end of November. He is coming off a 32-point, 17-rebound and 5-block performance in the Grizzlies’ last game against the Sacramento Kings. Eddie is a huge guy who can change the game with his inner presence. Luke Cornett’s full support will be with him. The biggest challenge will be preventing AD from dominating the Spurs on the glass and forcing them to work for their shots on the interior. Kornet has done a good job for Wembley in the starting lineup, especially defensively. Tuesday night will be another good matchup for him.
The Grizzlies are not a good shooting team, and they struggle to defend the three-point line. San Antonio is also being deeply destroyed. His best bet is to continue shooting the three-ball with teams, not stop them. The numbers say the Spurs should overtake the Grizzlies. If Memphis is punishing San Antonio with its size in the paint, the Spurs should take advantage of their advantage on the perimeter.
Spurs have performed brilliantly from their wings in recent games. Vassell, Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie have really stepped up while the team is shorthanded. The Spurs will need those performances again against Memphis. The Grizzlies have good wings like Jaylen Wells and Cedric Coward, who can shoot and defend. A better performance from both of them should give the Spurs the edge on Tuesday night.
