Framework hikes desktop PC prices as RAM shortage drags on

Just weeks after raising the price of its RAM modules, Framework has announced that it is also raising the price of its desktop PCs in response to the global memory shortage. The Framework desktop with 32GB of RAM and an AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 chip now starts at $1,139 instead of $1,099.

“We held off on this as long as we could, but we had to update our Framework desktop pricing today to take into account the huge increase in LPDDR5X pricing from our suppliers,” it says in a post on FrameworkX. “As before, we are simply adjusting prices to cover the increase in costs.”

Framework desktops with higher RAM configurations and a Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 chip have also increased in price, with the 64GB version rising from $1,599 to $1,639, and the 128GB option rising from $1,999 to $2,459. In December, the framework did not rule out the possibility of future increases, saying, “It is very likely that we will need to readjust module prices within the next month.”
