Four confirmed tornadoes from Thursday morning

This winter has been like spring and the temperatures have risen above normal. The spring-like weather continued Thursday morning and a round of severe storms moved in, producing several tornadoes.

As of Thursday night, we are at four confirmed tornadoes since Thursday morning.

Not only is four significantly higher than the January average, but it is also already close to the statewide record of five January tornadoes set in 2023.

As of Thursday night, four tornadoes were reported, one EF-0 near Thunderbird Lake and three EF-1 in Shawnee, Shawnee Lake and Purcell. Purcell currently stands as our strongest hurricane. Here is the NWS’s official report after a day of damage survey:

Purcell’s and moved to the north-east. A house about 3 miles southwest

Purcell’s roof was removed. the tornado moved forward

Purcell caused roof damage to some homes and utility outages.

The tornado crossed the Canadian River into Cleveland County. One

Outbuildings north of Lexington were significantly damaged.

The county line where trees and a flag pole were damaged. Tornado

And trees. The roofs of at least two additional homes were damaged.

This tornado developed just north of Shawnee Regional Airport

Moved northeast, damaging some homes southwest of 45th

Street and Kickapoo Street. The tornado then crossed Interstate 40

and damaged the roof of a hotel and also damaged its business

Approached Harrison Street.
