Forward Deployed Engineer at OmniAI

engineering at omni
We are building an AI-powered infrastructure layer for small business lending. Helping banks and fintechs automate the dirty work of collecting documents, filling out financial models and conducting public research on millions of SMBs across the country.

there are 34 million small businesses in AmericaAnd each of them needs capital. We’re making it fundamentally easier for lenders to serve them. At Omni we run everything from initial application, third party data aggregation, OCR and financial data extraction and ongoing borrower communications.

You can watch a demo of the product here: https://finovate.com/videos/finovatefall-2025-omniai/

what will you do

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)You will work directly with our customers – banks, fintechs and lenders – to bring Omni’s platform to life within their organizations. You’ll sit with their teams, design integrations, and help transform the way they operate day-to-day.

hope of:

  • Travel frequently to customer sites throughout the US to lead implementation and problem solving on the ground
  • Collaborate with product and AI teams to customize Omni’s infrastructure for each lender’s unique workflow
  • Work with real production data and complex integrations (Salesforce, NCeno, Fiserv, Jack Henry, etc.).
  • Represent Omni at conferences and customer events – Our entire team travels to major conferences like Finovate, Lend360, and NAGGL.
  • Provide fast, cheap solutions that turn into long-term systems used by thousands of borrowers

This is a deeply technical and highly visible role. You will be both an engineer and an ambassador, driving how banks adopt AI-first infrastructure

what will you work on

There is a lot that goes into commercial lending and we are focused on every step of the process. Some key concepts would be:

  • Structuring a disorganized PDF Visualizing clean, machine-readable data in every type of business document. We’ve spent over a year building incredibly high accuracy OCR pipelines (including building a major open source library: https://github.com/getomni-ai/zerox)
  • Collecting millions of unstructured data points 50+ government and public data sources (UCC filings, liens, licenses, tax records, etc.) containing information useful to lenders. As well as using third party data (credit bureaus, KYC, AML).
  • designing AI workflows Which combines OCR, LLM and rules-based systems into predictable, production-ready outputs. and learning that human <=> How to build AI interfaces that are intuitive (i.e. HIL, model feedback, supervision, reporting).
  • building real time financial models To underwrite SMBs faster and more accurately.
  • Building internal tools for sourcing, labeling, and preparing large-scale training datasets (see: Infinite PDF Generator)

You’ll also help bridge the gap between our engineering roadmap and the real-world challenges lenders face.

tech stack

We mainly use **Node, TypeScript, React/Next.js, Postgres, Docker, and K8.**
We integrate with external systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, NCeno, and many bank specific core systems (Jack Henry, Fiserv, etc.). If you have ever worked with SOAP API or

In terms of AI, we mainly interface with OpenAI and Gemini models. Customers can deploy Omni through any Cloud Or V.P.CSo familiarity with containerization and DevOps is valuable.

about the interview

phone screen
Take 30 minutes to chat with one of the founders. Learn a little about your interests and share what we’re working on at Omni. We’re looking for people with a keen interest in startups, and would love to hear about prior startup experience. Really interested to see any open source work too.

architectural interview
1 hour call with both founders where we design an imaginary feature. There is no coding involved. Instead we will discuss a new feature, and have a collaborative discussion about the required architecture. We want to think about everything from database design to UI.

on site
You’ll spend the day working with us in our SF office. Along with meals, travel and accommodation will also be covered. We’ll spend the whole day creating an MVP of the feature we planned during the architecture interview. You will be using your own computer, and using the language/environment you are most comfortable with. By the end of the day we are expecting two things:

  1. Fully working code. Some bugs are expected, but the main use case should be solved.
  2. A great demo. We want to see how clearly you can present your finished solution.
