WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The next winter storm will hit the region this weekend with accumulating snow. Layers will fall down early Sunday, but strong winds will cause the snow to blow and drift. Cold will persist in the coming days.

It was cloudy on Saturday and there was light snowfall from morning to afternoon in the area from south-west to north-east. There will be moderate to perhaps heavy snow at times south along Highway 10 from Saturday afternoon through Saturday night. Expect snow-covered roads and overall hazardous travel conditions in Central Wisconsin, while slippery and icy roads in the Northwoods. Temperatures on Saturday will be in the low to mid 20s.
The snow will change to light snow Saturday night, then to snow Sunday morning. The flakes will fall on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, strong winds are expected from late Saturday night till Sunday. Gusts up to 30 mph may occur, causing blowing and blowing snow.
How much snow?
Saturday into Sunday morning, 1-3″ of snow is expected in the Northwoods just south of Highway 8, 3-6″ from just south of Highway 8 to south of Highway 10, and 6-10″ south of Highway 10. In other words, the further south you live, the higher the snowfall totals.

A mix of sun and clouds on Monday and cold with a high in the mid 10s. The remaining days of the week will remain quite cloudy and cold. There is a possibility of snowfall and wind on Wednesday, while there is a possibility of snowfall on Thursday. The outlook for the Wausau Holiday Parade is cloudy and cool conditions with temperatures in the mid to high 10s during the parade on Friday evening.
