Fire and Ash’ When It Was Even Longer

World Premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ashes Will take place on Monday, December 1st in Los Angeles, CA. This is almost three weeks away from the movie’s release in theaters on December 19th, which means Disney is incredibly confident about the movie. It has no problem with reactions leaking out early, perhaps because the company thinks it has another James Cameron flick on its hands. Whether this is true or not, we will find out soon.

However, that kind of confidence usually comes from the surface, and in a new interview, Avatar Producer and director James Cameron talks about Disney CEO Bob Iger’s initial reaction to the film.

,[Iger] “It doesn’t matter unless it’s worth showing to me,” Cameron told Puck News. “His comment when he saw [Fire and Ash] The first time around, even though it was three hours, 23 minutes long, it did not include credits at the time, so it has since been shortened by about 18 minutes. He said, ‘Yes, I know you will keep postponing it. But this is fantastic. He basically said, ‘I love this movie.’ And it was interesting because there were other leaders on Zoom who were bringing notes. And he said, ‘Yeah, you know, I had no problem with it.’ And he basically jotted them down on his notes. And I said, ‘Okay, our work is done here.'”

Well, didn’t, considering the film is now three hours and 17 minutes long with credits. So Cameron did a little pinch and tuck. But Iger’s early reaction is indicative of why the company is bringing the film to the public so quickly. Which, for context, is not normal. Most major Disney films are not screened for the press or industry until the week of release. But this was 18 days before the release. Apparently, and hopefully, “It’s fantastic,” as Iger said.

we will have more Avatar: Fire and Ashes in the coming weeks. It will open on 19th December.
