With the game tipped off, KU’s record (2-0) and point differential (+21) leaves the Jayhawks in good position to compete against a top team tomorrow. After the game, bill self Met journalists to discuss the game. Here’s everything the KU coach said after the game…
But why did Self start? Jamari McDowell,
“I thought he played his best yesterday. Kohl (Rosario), he’s been working hard. I just thought we’d give Kohl a different look so maybe he could come off the bench and not feel the pressure. Kohl really played better today. Trey made some tough layups, and played really well the whole game. And Jamari was very solid. He was steady out there for us.”
how will the team handle darrin peterson Coming back to play…
“Whenever Darrin comes back we’ll be a lot better offensively. Honestly, we don’t know how to play without him yet. We’re just piecing it together. But we’ve played through our bigs more, and we’ve experimented with playing three bigs. All of those things are positives that will remain the same going forward. Hopefully, we’ll be a better screening team and do some things differently. The way Syracuse played us, it was smart. But we didn’t.” Can play behind the net, where Darin will be able to do that, and Melvin (Council Jr.) doesn’t have any help to play well. rulerFor the most part, I don’t think Duke is going to say they played well that night. I thought we did a pretty good job of protecting them. So hopefully we can play it out one more game and then see what happens after that.”
