Drake, ISU cancel Monday classes due to snowstorm

                                                Updates about your flight and holiday vacations will be a little long for some college students. Drake University and Iowa State are canceling classes Monday due to the weather. This gives students and staff more time to go home. ISU's campus will remain open and athletic programs will continue. Also, for the safety of guests, staff and animals, Blank Park Zoo will be closed again tomorrow. Zoo Will

                    The winter storm affected nearly every county in the state, forcing churches, schools, clinics and other groups to cancel or postpone events. Iowa State University has canceled classes on Monday, Dec. 1 to allow students additional time to return to campus after the Thanksgiving break. Officials said in a post on the ISU Police Department Facebook page: "At this time, the university will remain open with normal operations. Facilities planning and management teams will be working throughout the weekend to clear roads and sidewalks. ... Athletic events for this weekend will be held as scheduled." Drake University also canceled classes for Monday, December 1. The university will remain open with normal operations. Cowles Library will remain closed until 3:00 pm, then close at midnight.
