Aston Villa’s Europa League match against Young Boys on Thursday was temporarily stopped due to violence at Villa Park.
Villa forward Donyal Malen was hit on the head by a plastic cup thrown from distance while celebrating his opener in the 27th minute.
The Dutchman was decapitated but did not receive medical treatment.
After this the match was stopped for five minutes 31 seconds When objects were thrown at Malen again after scoring his second goal in the 42nd minute, Young Boys captain Loris Benito was running to talk to the away fans.
Several seats in the away end were broken and thrown in the direction of the pitch.
BBC Radio 5 Live’s Tom Gale, reporting from Villa Park, said: “Each of Aston Villa’s goals has seen a shower of objects onto the pitch from the away side.
“This led to clashes with police and managers, with officers dragging away two men dressed in head-to-toe black in handcuffs.”
