Donald Trump said on Saturday that the airspace over and around Venezuela would be completely closed.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said: “To all airlines, pilots, drug dealers and human smugglers, please consider a complete closure of the airspace over and around Venezuela.”
Last week, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned major airlines of a “potentially hazardous situation” when flying over Venezuela due to the “deteriorating security situation and increasing military activity in or around the country.”
Venezuela revoked the operating rights of six major international airlines, which had suspended flights to the country following the FAA warning.
