Donald Trump has once again lashed out late night host Seth Meyers – and this time, he has the support of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
Meyers took several jabs at Trump last week, mocking everything from the president’s role in the government shutdown to his former friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump, angry at Meyers over the latest indictments, vented his anger on Truth Social on Saturday.
“NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS),” Trump complained in his post. “He was seen in an uncontrollable rage last night, possibly due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a ratings disaster. On top of everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him immediately!”
Shortly after Trump’s post, Carr posted a screenshot of the president’s message on his X page without any additional comment.
Entertainment Weekly Representatives for Meyers and NBC have been contacted for comment.
Although Carr did not directly address his stance on Meyers, his public co-signing of the president’s demand for NBC to fire the late-night host comes just months after he threatened to take action against ABC over Jimmy Kimmel’s comments following the Charlie Kirk killing in September. Kimmel’s show was later taken off air for a week.

The issue began with Carr’s appearance on Benny Johnson’s podcast on September 17, where he suggested that “there are some measures we can look at” following Kimmel’s comments about Kirk.
“We can do it the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said at the time. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action against Kimmel, otherwise there will be additional work ahead for the FCC.”
A few hours later, two major broadcast stations, Nexstar and Sinclair, took it off the air. jimmy kimmel live From airing on several of its affiliates, ABC suspended the show indefinitely. Kimmel was back on the air by September 23.
The controversy stemmed from the fact that in July CBS announced Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026, days after the host criticized CBS’ parent company Paramount for settling a lawsuit with Trump. At the time, Paramount was in the midst of a pending merger with Skydance that required FCC approval, leading some to speculate about the timing of the announcement. The FCC approved the merger a week later. CBS stated that the cancellation was not connected to the merger and that it was “purely a financial decision.”
Trump did not hesitate to publicly celebrate both developments. “I absolutely love that Colbert was fired,” he wrote in a Truth Social post. In another, he called Kimmel’s suspension “great news for America.” He added: “That leaves Jimmy [Fallon] and seth [Meyers]Total two losers on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also terrible. Do it, NBC!!!’

For his part, Meyers has not hesitated to stand up to Trump’s continued criticism. Earlier this month, the president labeled Meyers a “truly deranged lunatic” and claimed it is “probably illegal” for a late-night host to joke about him in this manner.
Meyers addressed those comments on his next show, joking that he generally operates under the “New Yorker’s Creed” and does his best to ignore individuals who “rant and rave” about him because he knows they will eventually find something else to get angry about.

“But there’s one thing I just have to focus on,” he added. “You can say I’m not a genius, you can say I’m insane, but I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers! You The one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”
Meyers then showed a series of clips from 2019 in which Trump repeatedly mentioned catapult systems featured on aircraft carriers.
“I didn’t even know aircraft carriers had catapults until you said something!” Meyers quipped.
