If you’ve made it this far, I’ll go ahead and assume you don’t care about spoilers, so let’s get straight to things!
As stranger things As Season 5 begins, we meet all our favorite characters. When we first see Dustin, he comes to school wearing a Hellfire Club shirt, which immediately makes him a marked figure. While he knows the truth about Eddie, everyone else sees Eddie as the devil and holds him responsible for what happened.
Dustin’s decision to wear the shirt attracts the attention of everyone at school, including Jason’s friend Andy from the basketball team. Andy tells Dustin that the Hellfire Club is over as he begins to tear off shirts and throw them in front of the locker. Lucas breaks things up, but Dustin doesn’t back down from bullying.
Dustin takes a snake from a classroom and hides it in Andy’s locker along with a message, “Hellfire Lives”. This prank may have made Dustin feel good in the moment, but it cost him later in the episode.
Dustin’s fate left unclear after Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 1
After school, Dustin goes to the cemetery to see Eddie’s grave. Upon arriving, he discovers that the gravestone has been vandalized again and he prepares to clean it, only it is not paint that has been used to write the message. The message is written in blood, Dustin had placed the snake’s blood in Andy’s locker which was cut up and left in the grass in front of the grave.
Then Andy and his friends arrive and start surrounding Dustin. Dustin starts laughing as he remembers how during Eddie’s last mission, he used the Prismatic Spray to defeat the villain. Dustin grabs the chemicals he brought with him to the grave and throws them in the faces of Andy and his friends. Although this gives Dustin a temporary advantage, they quickly overtake him and begin brutally attacking Dustin. They threw him on the ground and started kicking him as he was lying on the ground in a bad condition.
Dustin’s fate is left up in the air after this in the episode, with no updates on his fate for the remainder of the premiere. This leaves fans wondering if Dustin is okay, and the show fails to give us an answer to this question until the second episode of the season.
While Andy and his friends beat Dustin badly, they do not kill him. About 20 minutes into the second episode, Dustin meets Steve and Jonathan while walking down the street. Interestingly, Dustin has hidden the truth about how he was injured – as well from everyone else for that matter – instead of admitting that he was jumped by Andy, telling everyone that he crashed his bike.
We’re sure the truth will eventually come out, but in the season’s fourth episode, Dustin hides the truth from his friends.
