DC Studios Is Trying to Move to Other Theme Parks

Batman the Ride

These days, if you want to ride with Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman, you usually have to go to a Six Flags theme park. But that may change in the future, as Warner Bros. is reportedly searching for new theme park partners for its signature comic book brand, DC Studios.

Bloomberg reports that DC Studios is currently in talks with several theme park operators, including Universal, to license its characters for new rides and attractions. According to the report, talks are “still in the early stages and do not yet include contractual negotiations”, but they are taking place. Plus, this won’t end the Six Flags deal. This would put DC characters in another set of theme parks.

Universal is the only specific theme park operator mentioned in this article and, obviously, will be the largest. It already owns the Marvel Studios license at the Orlando park and has a deal with Warner Bros. harry potter Franchises, as well as all major domestic companies: jurassic park, how to train your dragonRakshas, etc.

It doesn’t matter who, if anyone, gets the rights, the point in the deal is to make more expansive land a possibility. Right now, at Six Flags Park with DC rides, there is definitely a theme in and around the rides. But not a full-fledged Gotham City section of the park or Metropolis or anything like we see at Disney or Universal. star wars Or harry potterThis deal, especially if Universal gets it, leaves that possibility open,

However, this news also came out around the same time as the big news of Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery. Netflix recently started opening small, almost mini theme parks called “Netflix Houses”, so you have to think this idea could grow into something bigger with all the new properties it’s acquiring. Or, the powers that be could shut down any negotiations that begin before an agreement is reached. If Netflix owns Batman then why would Netflix want to help Universal by allowing them to ride on Batman?

Certainly, there are a lot of factors at play here. But the bottom line is that, at some point in the future, there’s a good chance that DC will join Marvel in getting a much bigger, better, deeper theme park experience. Where do you want to see DC?
